Like most women, I am one impulsive buyer, especially for things related to my children or to books.

Lately, there has been many many sales, that I don’t think I have enough eyes to see all their offers anymore. Whoever have heard of a warehouse sales as frequent as now 5, 10 years ago? I remember whenever there was a rare sale, people would line up and grab all the great bargains.

However, of late, there seems to be too many of these sales that it makes one wonder if it is genuinely cheap, or is it just a gimmick to move their stocks.

The other problem with all these sales is that one will tend to over buy, like me and my books. Even if I do not buy any more books in 2009, I will still have enough books to see me through the months, right till 2010.

Question is, should we buy things when they are on sale (now), or should we buy it when we need it? True, we may be able to save, but then it also means that we are spending present money which could technically be invested.

I always grapple with this situation and cannot help but wonder, if I had invested this money, my purchases could be paid by the gains, plus I still get to keep the capital. Greedy me.

What do you think? Should we buy now when things are on sale, or should we buy it when we actually need it later (but maybe no more discount)? Or is it totally dependant on the items being sold?
