Tomorrow is Valentine’s Day and I am sure many people are busy planning on what to do and what to get their loved ones. Usual gifts include flowers and chocolates as well as fancy dinners. Today’s The Star had an article citing some outlets which are seeing lesser sales compared to previous years.

Among others it mentioned that florists are seeing decreasing number of bouquets sold. The amount of money people are willing to pay per bouquet has also decreased. Before I got married, flowers were a must-have item for Valentine’s Day. This is followed by dinner and a movie. However, since we got married and with the arrival of the kids, these things seem to be less of an importance. What mattered more was that on Valentine’s Day, we get to celebrate it as a family and be thankful that we have yet another year to remind us of our love.

Yesterday, my other half sent me a sweet MMS – it was a photo of our little girl with a message wishing me Happy Valentine’s Day. I replied with a photo of our son. This to me, at this point, seemed more meaningful than all the flowers in the world. I do miss receiving flowers though … but this means so much more to me.

What about you? Has your spending for Valentine’s Day increase, decrease or remain the same?

Whatever it is, hope you have a great Valentine’s Day!!
